Panel: Transformations of love and desire in Late Imperial Chinese Literature
Late imperial China are awash with stories of transformation. Transformation of the female into corpse, of corpse into deathbringers of desires, of money transforming into man, of pathological condition into a romantic image. This panel aims to present the fascinating excitement of transformation which enthralls the contemporary and modern readers alike and to discuss the challenges and difficulties such efforts of transformation may encounter.
