EMPLOYER FAQs

   Do I have to be an AAS member to post a job?   

The posting of employment listings is open to the public (AAS members and non-members). You are not required to be a member to post jobs. However, in order to post a listing, you must have an individual account which is linked to your organization. Once linked, this individual account will be used for all future listings as well. Our Job Board system allows for ONE key contact PER organizational/departmental account. The login details for the key contact may be shared with your department for future job postings. 

Please do not create your own individual account, but first submit the appropriate request form for us to create or edit an account for you. "Create an Account Form" is for those who do not have an individual account/login. "Verify an Existing Account Form" is for organizations who have previously posted jobs on our portal and need to update their profile information. 

As an AAS member, individuals may browse listings and add their resumes for review by potential employers. As an Employer, organizations may post listings, access their own listings, and browse resumes during the posting period for a fee.

   Is it free for AAS members to post a job?   

As an AAS member, individuals may browse listings and add their resumes for review by potential employers. There is a rate structure, based on word count, to post a job on our Job Board. Please refer to the Rates and Payment page to view rates. We do not offer a membership discount for posting jobs.

   My colleague is an AAS member. Can I use their AAS login to post a position?   

No, we do not recommend that a job ad  be posted with a membership account. Please do not create your own individual account but first submit the appropriate request form for us to create or edit an account for you.    I am a new user. How do I post an ad?   

You can access the Job Board at www.asian-studies.org  by logging into the individual account which must be linked to your organization. The “Log In” button is located in the top right corner of the AAS website.

Please read the instructions carefully before submitting a job, as there are only a few changes we can make to the ads once they have been submitted.

  1. To post a job, click "Post A Job" under the "Employers" tab.
  2. Once you have entered the Job Board, select “I wish to add a job listing as an institution or other employer and/or view my current listing and/or search member resumes” and then hit "Continue."
  3. Select “Add A New Job”
  4. Complete the Job Post Form.
  5. Once you hit the “Submit” button for your ad, you will be given a page on various ways to make payment.  The ad will not be posted until we receive actual payment.
  6. To access your listing, select “View” in the summary under “My Job Listings.” You can view your current listings and/or search member resumes as they become available by logging in and navigating to the “Professional Development” tab on the menu bar and selecting “AAS Job Board."

   How much does it cost to post a job?   

Job listings are posted for two months and charged based on word count; 0-200 words is $200, then $100 for every 100 words after that.

For example:
0-200 words = $200
201-300 words= $300
301-400 words= $400
401-500 words= $500
501-600 words= $600
601-700 words= $700

   Our company already has an account with the AAS, however the name on the account needs to be edited.

   Once I post my ad, when will it appear online?   

Listings are posted to the AAS Job Board after the AAS has received payment, either by credit card or check. Once payment is received, the AAS will review the listing and activate it upon approval. An email notification will be sent once the approval process is complete.

AAS reserves the right to edit and revise the listings to standard formatting. AAS will review only major changes with the employer before posting. No refunds will be issued for reduced word count resulting from this process.

   I have posted my job but I haven't received the approval email. When will my ad be live?   

There are two reasons why you may not have received an approval email.

The first reason may be because the payment for your job ad is still pending. Payment is required in full before a job is approved and reviewed. Please follow these instructions to process payment online: Log in to your individual account at www.asian-studies.org. Select "Job Board." Select "Enter Job Board." Select “I wish to add a job listing as an institution or other employer and/or view my current listing and/or search member resumes.” Select the job by number under "My Job Listings." Click the job number to view the job. Select "Submit Changes" (without making any changes).

Secondly, the approval email is automatically distributed to the email address stated on the "Job Contact Information" section of the job post form. You may view the status of your job ad by reviewing "My Job Listings" in the Job Board portal after logging into your account. 

   I forgot my password. How can I log into my account?   

To retrieve your password, you will need the User ID associated with your account. You can reset a lost password here.

   How do I extend the posting period of my ad?   

Listings may be extended for an additional month, at a rate of one-half the cost of the original listing, pre-payment by credit card is required before the extension begins. Employers must send an extension request by email to the AAS at ads@asian-studies.org at least one week prior to the expiration of the original listing.

   There is an error in my ad. How do I fix it?   

Changes to listings can be made by employers only up until the approval process begins and before the listing is posted. After this time, the AAS must be contacted at ads@asian-studies.org to make minor changes which do not drastically affect word count, such as application deadlines, replacing links, grammar mistakes, etc. Major changes such as the listing start date, increasing word count, etc, will not be permitted after payment is processed and the listing is approved.
