Member Dues

The AAS has a graduated dues structure. All memberships are individual (organizational/institutional memberships are not available) and member dues (except for Patron and Associate members) are based on gross income from all sources, not limited to one's individual salary. Patron and Regular Members receive the Journal of Asian Studies, the Asian Studies Newsletter, and the Annual Conference Program, and are entitled to vote in all elections.

PLEASE NOTE. The "Under $15,000/Student" category is designated for full-time students or part-time scholars with genuinely low incomes. AAS must significantly subsidize this level of membership and allows members to remain at this level for up to five years. We rely on members to select the appropriate payment level.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP is available to the spouse of a regular AAS member. The fee paid by the regular member should be based on the higher income of the two. Associate members only receive the Annual Conference Program and have voting privileges.
