The majority of respondents (93.2%) are either Very Satisfied or Satisfied with their AAS membership.
Respondents listed the following solidary or purposive factors as being “Very important” or “Somewhat important” in having an AAS membership:

To establish or maintain professional relationships (90.3%)
To have cross-disciplinary discourse (83.3%)
To express my professional responsibility and identity (80.3%)
Respondents rated the following tangible benefits as being “Very important” or “Somewhat important”:
Asian Studies Newsletter (78%)
Journal of Asian Studies’ Articles, Book Reviews, Online Version, and Downloads (75%)
The Member Only section of the AAS website (70%)
Respondents rated the following Annual Meeting aspects as being “Very important” or “Somewhat important”:
Formal Program (87%)
Social functions and networking (80%)
Small group meetings (74%)
Exhibits (67%)
While 76% of respondents reside in the United States, and 24% overseas, the opinions of both United States and overseas residents were practically identical.
