Women and Gender Relations is a collection of eight articles originally published in the Journal of Asian Studies (JAS) between 1973 and 2001. The editor—a professor of Chinese History at the University of California, Davis and former AAS President—is a recognized scholar on women, gender, and family relations in Asia. Her introduction describes trends in scholarship and discusses each of the articles, providing a context within which they can be studied and understood.
